Tournament 2007

40 teams participated in our 1st netball tournament in Welwyn Garden City on the 1st September 2007. We were fortunate enough to have good weather and had a fantastic day of netball from teams based in various areas around  the country including York, Basingstoke and Redhill in Surrey.

There were some exciting games in the first round but the matches heated up as we went through to the knockout rounds and on to the quarters, semi's and the finals of both the cup and plate. There were many local teams represented in both the cup and plate sections. The cup quarter finals were between Hertford Hornets 1 v Oakwood Seniors, Wyvern v Tongham, XL v London Lionhearts and Nomads 1 v Academy. While the plate quarter finals were between Hertford Hornets 2 v Redhill 2, CD Pheonix v Old Fincunians, Oakwood v Falcons and Redhill 1 v Palmers Green 1.

It was Hertford Hornets 1, Academy,Tongham & London Lionhearts in the cup semi finals while Hertford Hornets 2, CD Pheonix, Oakwood & Palmers Green in the plate final. The cup final was between Academy and Tongham with Academy being overall winners of the tournament and Oakwood winning the plate competition.

SAS WIN SOUTH REGION DIVISION 3 - April 2008

SAS have had a great season and with only 2 losses this season have come out overall winners of Div 3. It has been an intense and very competitive season but after coming 4th last year and missing out on the play offs we were determined to gain promotion this season. Coach Colin Hill said " It has been a long tough season with plenty of ups and downs along the way but overall a great squad effort which produced some exciting netball. I am really pleased that we have gained automatic promotion avoiding the play offs, it is what the squad deserve as they have all worked so hard this season, looking forward to the challenge ahead in Div 2. My thanks go out to the whole squad, scorers, umpires and supporters without which we would not be in this great position now. Div 2 here we come....."
