SAS Netball Club Tournament 2011 The 5th annual SAS tournament took place on Saturday 3rd September 2011. The morning started off cloudy as 42 teams competed in 6 groups to see who would go through to the Cup competition and who would be in the Plate competition. With teams from all round the country along with several local teams the level of netball was very high with teams fighting for position. The sun came out at lunchtime as we entered the knockout stages with some very close games being played in both competitions, in fact several of the quarter final games were won by only 1 or 2 goals! With the warm weather and tiredness starting to kick in we reached the semi-finals. The Downs booked their place in the Cup final by beating Clan and Falcons Black joined them with a win over Turnford. In the Plate semi-final Nomads beat MK Diamonds and Team Beds beat Dacorum to book their places in the Plate final. The Plate final was played first and after an exciting 12 minutes finished 7 all. Following extra time Nomads managed to come out on top winning 11-9. The Cup final was equally as action packed with the eventual winners being The Downs. SAS JUNIORS
SAS Junior Netball provides opportunities for U12's (Yr 7), U14's (Yr 8 & 9) and U16's (yrs 10 & 11), the club aims to introduce U19's in the near future providing a pathway through the age groups into senior netball within the club
Training for all junior age groups is on Monday nights 5pm - 6.30pm at Stanborough School Sports Hall, Lemsford Lane, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, AL8 6YR
