SAS Netball Club Tournament 2009

On Saturday 5th September we held our 3rd annual tournament at Stanborough School, Hertfordshire. Once again we had 42 teams participating and we were fortunate enough to have teams from various areas around the country including Ipswich, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Sussex and Portsmouth.

It was nice to see some different teams enter again this year with matches of a very high standard, which was great to watch. The matches heated up as we went through to the knockout rounds and on to the quarters, semi's and the finals of both the cup and plate. There were many local teams represented in both the cup and plate sections.

It was Trinity, Dacorum, Blades & Raiders in the Cup Semi Finals, Dacorum beat Raiders 10 - 8 and Blades beat Trinity 10 - 7 and so it was Dacorum and Blades through to the final while Bush & Duke of York were in the plate final. The cup final was a very tense and exciting match which went to extra time and golden goal, eventually the winners of the cup were Blades and the winners of the plate competition was Duke of York.

SAS would once again like to thank all the teams who took part, I think everyone will agree it was a great day all round. Thank you to everyone who supported us in the running of our 3rd tournament from the goodie bags to cash donations as well as Nutz about Netball who attended the days events.
