SAS DEFEND THEIR TITLE IN GUERNSEY -
Oct 08
With various
injuries/illness we went into our weekend trip
to Beau Sejour, Guernsey with just 7 players, after
winning 2 years
ago we started being favourites to win again
this year. Winning every match on Saturday in the first round,
we were then re grouped in the afternoon for a second round of
matches where once again we won every match even though they
were much more challenging games. That took us through to
the final section on the Sunday where
we came up against some of the teams that we played on the previous
day but managed to maintain our unbeaten record. With a
tired and aching team we headed into the semi's were we beat Nerine
'B' 15 - 4 for a place in the final against Nerine 'A', winning the
match 13 - 5.
Mission Accomplished......Coach Colin said "We were all
really please with the result especially playing all
weekend with just 7 players but we were all exhausted
and looked forward to heading home".

SAS WIN
IN MANCHESTER - Aug 08
SAS entered the Dominoes
Tournament 2008 wanting to do one better than last year and
get to the final. We were lucky that the weather was kind to
us and on Saturday had a very successful days netball winning
every game. On Sunday the matches were split into Cup & Plate
sections so we had to raise our game as the days matches were a lot
more challenging. Disappointingly we lost one of our morning
matches which put us in 2nd place in our group, but we still had
the chance to go through to the knockouts. We played Harraby a
team that we had beaten on Saturday, winning 14 - 12 Our
next game was in the quarter finals against Dominoes and although
we have never lost to them before they were in great form and at
the end of full time it was a draw 10 - 10. After extra time we won
14 - 13 and it was one of the most competetive matches we
had all weekend, they really made us work for it. It was then
semi final time and we came up against our good friends London
Lionhearts who had beaten us in the semi's in Jersey so we were
determined to turn the tables. It was a nerve racking match we were
so close to the final and ended up winning 9 - 7. So we made it!!
We reached the final were we played Trafford A and after playing a
very composed first half we ended up winning the match 13 - 6 &
the tournament. It was a fantastic
achievement and it was a great squad
performance.
BLUES
ADD ANOTHER TROPHY TO THE CABINET - June
08
After having a month off to rest and
recuperate after a long and tough season all 3 SAS teams entered
into the Flames tournament this weekend. It was a great day and
luckily the weather held off and the sun showed its face a couple
of times. SAS Blues had a fantastic day and after rotating all the
squad in the first section they found themselves in the
plate and knew that they had a good chance of doing well in
the afternoon matches. After coming from behind in the semi final
to beat Falcons 2 by 2 goals 5 - 3 they looked forward to
the plate final. The final game was a very close and
exciting game and although SAS Blues went behind a couple
of times they never gave up and in the last few minutes after
turning over a couple of balls in defense and converting them
they managed to keep hold of the lead until the final whistle
beating Matrix 12 - 11.

SAS WIN SOUTH REGION DIVISION 3
- April 2008
SAS have had a great season and
with only 2 losses this season and 63 points have come out
overall winners of Div 3. It has been an intense and very
competitive season but after coming 4th last year and missing out
on the play offs we were determined to gain promotion this season.
Coach Colin Hill said " It has been a long tough season with
plenty of ups and downs along the way but overall a great
squad effort which produced some exciting netball. I am really
pleased that we have gained automatic promotion avoiding
the play offs, it is what the squad deserve as they have all worked
so hard this season, we are looking forward to the challenge
ahead in Div 2. My thanks go out to the whole squad, scorers,
umpires and supporters without which we would not be in this great
position now. Div 2 here we come....."
SAS
BLUES WIN DIVISION 2 - March 2008
SAS Blues have had a great season and
with one game still to play they have won Aylesbury Division 2.
After a nerve racking start to this weeks match they managed to
maintain their lead for the whole game and won 31 - 21. It was
not until after the game they were told of their sucess at winning
the Division. The Blues have had a fantastic, hard working and
dedicated squad who have only lost one game all season.
Congratulations on your promotion and lets hope that you have
another great season in Div 1.
SAS REDS
TRIUMPH IN JERSEY - March 2008
SAS and SAS Reds had a fantastic weekend
tournament in Jersey March 08. The Reds after narrowly losing out
by one goal on the first rounds events found themselves in the
plate in a great position to push and win the plate.
Sundays games went really well and after winning the semi final
comfortably they got to the plate final. It was highly
contested against Old Actonians with both teams making several
mistakes under the pressure, at the final whistle it was
level and after 2 minutes of extra time each way the score was
still level, it went to golden goal and SAS were in possesion. They
worked the ball calmly and patiently down the court, the Old A's
defense were blown for contact in the circle and Kim (GS) put up
the final shot which won them the game. Congratulations to all the
reds who played in the tournament it was a fantastic weekend, and
congratulations to Kim who was voted 'Player Of The Tournament'
over the 2 teams that entered. SAS after making their way through
the cup tournament lost in the semi finals to their good friends
London Lionhearts 1 by one goal, they went on to win, beating
Convent in a one sided final.
