SAS BLUES PROMOTION BATTLE - December
2007
SAS Blues have had a great first half to the
season and in the run up to xmas are in second place with a game in
hand, captain Viv Yeap is very proud of what they have achieved
they have worked really hard to get where they are this season
especially as they have done it from scratch with a brand new
squad. They all have one aim and that is for promotion to division
1 at the end of the season. After only losing one game so far, they
are hoping they will go one better and be unbeaten in the second
half of the season.
SAS GET
OFF TO A GREAT START IN SOUTH REGION - November
2007
After 7 matches both home and away SAS
have got off to a great start with 7 straight wins. The
matches have been very close and exciting but with the speed,
patients and great shooting stats SAS have managed to keep
their composure and come away with the win each time
which keeps them top of the table. Fingers crossed they can
keep up the hard work with another win this Sunday against Hystar
which will mean they are unbeaten this half of the
season.

SAS WINS ADNL LEAGUE - April
2007
After 5 years of playing in the Aylesbury
Premier Division and coming second twice SAS have finally won
the league after beating Racketeers in their last game of
the season by one goal. Coach "Colin Hill" said it was a
nerve racking finish to the season but worth it in the end.
He went on to say 'The girls have a great season and I
feel entering into the South region League has made such an
improvement in the girls overall performance this
season'.
SAS GO ONE BETTER IN JERSEY - March
2007
After travelling to Jersey for 5 years
and getting to the semi finals of the Jersey Open Tournament every
year SAS finally made it into the final to go one better than ever
before. It was a very successful weekend for the girls especially
on the Sunday in the second round where they did not loose a single
match in the mornings fixtures. SAS found themselves top of
the group and meant they played the fourth place team which was
Dominoes for a place in the final. After a nervous second half SAS
beat Dominoes from Manchester 6-5 in a very close game in
their 12-minute long contest to get to the final. So, after two
days of play, and from 18 teams in contention, the final was
between SAS and Convent. Unfortunately after a great day
of netball SAS lost in the final 4 - 8. Match organiser Linda
Andrews explained after the final, the game of netball was the
winner. She went onto to say: 'This was the best ever tournament,
to date. The games were so close, while the results never went the
way you'd expect them to go. From the quality of the games to the
standard of umpiring this was the best open we've had so
far!!
SAS STORM GUERNSEY - Oct
2006
The biennial
Open attracted 24 teams for the traditional all-female
competition, with 12 English and two Jersey sides joining
local clubs. Organisers of the 10th open at Beau Sejour are
marking the landmark occasion with the introduction of a
mixed competition, which has attracted six teams. As the SAS
girls play mixed netball as well as ladies they decided to
combine the squad and enter both competitions. Tournament referee Gill Queripel said
‘Colin Hill, the coach of SAS who are regular visitors, is an
England men’s international and is bringing a mixed team over
to go with the five local sides'. She followed on by saying
‘They [SAS mixed] will outwit our boys with the fact that
they have played the game much longer, but our boys are
strong and quick and learning all the time.’ After an intense
2 days of netball SAS managed to do the double and won both
the ladies and the mixed competitions. Coach Colin Hill said
" We always have an enjoyable time competing in the Guernsey
Open regardless of the outcome but to leave the island having
won both competitions was the icing on the
cake".
